Two days ago it seamed like Ty was getting, yet again, another cold. He had a bit of a stuffy nose, little bit of a couch and a mild fever. No big deal, Ty gets colds often. The only difference was that he had this awful rash on both checks. It looked like he was extremely sunburned, but we hadn't been out in the sun. WEIRD. I thought maybe because he was fevered he was just really flushed. So I didn't do anything about it. Yesterday he woke up looking even worse, so I took him to the doctor ASAP. The minute the doctor saw him she asked "have you ever heard of Fifth Disease?"
Nope I haven't, but that's what Ty has... Fifth Disease <---{click there}
All in all, it looks MUCH worse than it is. Kids just get mild cold symptoms, and this rash that starts on their face and spreads to the rest of their body. In adults it is more rare, and a lot more painful. So I am PRAYING that Aaron and I don't get it. It is kind of like Chicken Pox in the way that once you get it you don't get it again. Most people get it as children.

When we were leaving the doctor's office she said "when you get home Google it, you can check out some more kids with "slapped Cheeks"

I had fifth disease last year, I can honestly say that it was the worst thing I have ever had in my life!
Chuck
I'm so glad you posted this...Hailey had a fever yesterday and we noticed that she looked sunburned today. She has a little bit of a cough too. It all seemed so wierd, but now I think it's probably 5th disease. Thanks for sharing! I just hope that if she does have it that I don't get it.
I also had Fifths Disease with chuck last year and i thought i was going to die... Chuck can give me an amen to that
Hope the rest of you don't get it. Poor boy. Sorry he is sick
SO sad!! Austin had that when he was about 10 months old. His whole face was bright red and swollen and his whole body was completely covered in a rash. I hope he gets better quick and no one else gets it.
