Family Vacation Part 1

Ok, I haven't posted in awhile because we have been on vacation in Calgary. We left the evening of August 11, right after Garry and Tara's weding reception. (which was wonderful by the way. I don't have any picutres of that event because I forgot my camera. SORRY) Our plan was to drive to Rexburg that night to stay with our friends Meagan and Mike Cooper. We were suppost to get there around 12:00 - 12:30 in the morning. Everything was going great until we hit Ogden. We were stuck in bumper tp bumper traffic due to road construction. With that delay we weren't going to arrive in Rexburg until 2:30 am. I called Meagan around midnight and told her that were going to stay in a hotel that night in Pocatello because we were WAY to tired to drive all the way to Rexburg. (plus we didn't want to intrude on our friends at 2:30 in the morning.) So after trying to check into about 10 different hotels, and getting the same anwser everytime "NO VACANCY" we were wondering what n the world was going on. So finally at the 11th hotel the guy told Aaron that we won't find an empty hotel for 150 miles. Aaron had to ask why, and the guy simply responed "Indian POWWOW." WHAT THE.......... So because of this Indian Powwow we had no place to sleep, and the option of going to Rexburg was no longer there because we already told Meagan we weren't coming, and it was 1:30 am. So we ended up driving to the closest truck stop to sleep in the VAN. Good thing we just got a van not even 4 days earlier. I have heard about these crazy peole who sleep in their cars while they travel, and I never thought I would be one of them. I am more of a hotel type of person. When people do sleep in their cars they usually come prepared with blankets and pillows. Well, since we did not plan on this we had 1 pillow and 2 beach towels to share between the three of us. Plus we were just sleeping on the floor of the van. It may sound funny to all of you, but it was the worst night of my life. It was a very ruff start to our vacation. When we finally got to Calgary the following day it was a hugh releif. We have been here for a week and a half now and we are having a great time. I am sitting at our cabin out in B.C. typing away, while the guys, and mom, are golfing. We have had so much fun so far and we stil have one week left. I will post pictures when our trip is over. Later.

Stacey, if only I had known, my in-laws live in Pocatello and totally would have taken you in for the night. It sucks when that happens. I just missed you in Calgary I left on the 13th. Have a great time at the cabin. Heather (Miller) Empey

Hey at least you weren't driving a motorcycle. I sure wish I was in BC right now. Aaron, how's the golf coming along? We'll have to have a Pre-Semester Salmon Classic when you get back now that your skills are finely tuned.

Stacey, HELLO, you have been in Calagry for a week and a half? I haven't heard the phone ringing! Jokes, ok I hope you are having a nice trip. Sure would be fun to see you! I hate travelling and sleeping in a vehicle too, I feel for you! Hotels are definately the way to go. Glad you made it safe and sound at least!
