fried pies & broken bones

September 2013
For Labor Day weekend we headed up to Turner Falls with the Browns.  We had never been there before so we didn't know what to expect.  We thought it was hiking, so we were dressed for hiking.  Well it is pretty much only swimming.  So the kids stripped down to their shorts and went swimming.  It was pretty cool, the falls went on forever down the mountain.  It is really shallow the whole way down, so you have to walk around on the extremely slippery rocks.  We had a few good hard falls, mostly by Aaron and Chris trying to help the little kids.  Dahl ended up slicing his foot open on a sharp rock.  Tons of blood, but luckily he didn't end up needing stitches.  We finished off the day by getting a lot of Fried Pies.  Lets be  honest, that's the whole reason we went up to Turner Falls in the first place.
About a week later, I got the dreaded phone call from the nurse at school.  Dahl possibly broke his collar bone.  Dang it.  I went and picked him up and took him to the doctor.  Yes, it was broken.  He was really sad because Fall Ball had just started and he was going to have to miss the whole season.  He had only played one game.  His coach was awesome about it and let Dahl sit in the dugout with his team.  He healed amazingly well and was right back to running around and playing baseball in no time.
