It's Time

It's time for what you may ask??? Food Storage. Last night we had another earthquake in LA County. It was about 4:15am and Aaron and I were fast asleep when our bed started shaking. We both jumped up and ran down stairs to check on the boys. Of course both were fast asleep and had no idea what had happened (our kids sleep through ANYTHING). I was so light headed from standing up so fast I felt like I was going to pass out. We didn't know what to do next since we aren't that familiar with "what to do after an earthquake." So we all piled into Dahl's bed for about 30 min in case there was another one. All of you from California may be laughing at us, but I got a little freaked out and we didn't have any better ideas. Now this earthquake was only a 4.4 on the Richter scale. Not that strong, in fact it wasn't strong enough that it caused any type of damage or emergencies. Thank goodness. The weird thing is Aaron and I have had quite a few conversations over the past few weeks about how we need to get some food storage and emergency kits. Well last night’s little tremor was kind of a wakeup call for us to ACTUALLY get prepared. I guess when you live this close to the San Andreas Fault you better be prepared for a big one....
(We live about half the distance between the LA dot and the fault line, CRAZY.)

Spencer and I gave talks on sunday about being prepared. HOW VERY INTERESTING. As students are bishop tells us just to buy one or two extra cans everytime we buy groceries and that will start a little food storage. Love youuu

Stacey, Konrad and I were in California during the Northridge quake. Audrey was a baby and the shaking seemed to go on FOREVER!! When the kids were little I would let them eat the food out of their 72 hour kits on conference weekend so I could rotate it. Someday there will be a big one here in Utah. We are right on top of a huge fault.

You did better then Dave the first time he felt an earthquake. We were newly married and we woke up and I told Dave to get under the doorway. He stood up and passed out back onto the bed. I was under the door trying to figure out how to move him when the shaking stopped. I still bug him about that one! I was the only one that felt this one at our house. I was going to text you guys but thought I would wake you. You're right, it is our little reminder to be prepared!
