The Results

Well I guess I should post the results of the 5K. Ok here is goes…we woke up Tuesday morning at 6:00am to go to the race. When we got there, there were so many people and they all looked like they have done this a time or two. It was very intimidating for me. I wanted to go home and crawl back into bed. Since this was the first race I have ever done I wasn’t really sure what to expect. A few of Aaron’s cousins were running with us so that kind of helped make me feel better. At the last minute Aaron decided to race against his cousin’s fiancĂ© (also Aaron’s mission friend). That made me even more nervous because I was now going to be running alone since everyone else I knew were defiantly going to be faster than me. So the race began and everyone took off since I started much slower. Remember everyone I am NOT a runner. Well to my surprise not even ½ mile down the road Aaron was waiting for me so he could run with me. It was very nice of him to sacrifice a decent time, to run with me. That made me a lot happier. Although I had to walk a couple of times (Aaron was nice enough to walk with me) I finished the race. My time was 39 minutes and 44 seconds. Aaron's time was 35 mintues. He ran ahead of me right at the end. I know all of you runners out there are saying “what a horrible time.” But it was good for me. In my next race I want to try and do it in 30 minutes. We will see.

When the race was over we went home, showered and then hurried downtown to watch the parade. It was fun, and Dahl loved it. Here is a picture of him at parade. I didn't really get good pictures at the parade, so this is the best one.

After the parade All of Aaron’s family and cousins decided to go to the lake for the afternoon. Unfortunately when we got there it started raining so we just turned around and went home. That evening we did some fireworks in the street. All in all it was a fun 4th of July.

Stacey-That is awesome, and coming from a non-runner myself I know how nervous you must have been. GREAT JOB! Glab to hear that you had a fun 4th. I love the fireworks! Glad you all had fun!

I hear ya on the no running thing. I'm horrible, and Michael can run forever. That's awesome you did it though. I'm still trying to work up the courage myself!

I don't know anything about times but 39 minutes sounds great to me. That sounds like it was a doable race. I should try a 5K run next time. Great Job Stace!!!!

good job you two - i'm proud of you for doing this because it takes guts and you've got to finish and that's sort of what life is about. Dahl's a cutie - can't wait to hold him

Hey Dee, This is Marilee (Miller). I just started my own blog and found Nena and Jess' so have been knobbing around and found yours too!! Holy crap have you grown up. I think the last time I saw you was when you were in HS! Anyway, you look great and your little guy is soooooo cute! Congrats on the race!! I ran my first 5K last Thanksgiving (US) and then ran in the Moab 1/2 Marathon in March. Though I am NOT a runner, I really have grown to LOVE!! Keep working hard and the runs get easier and easier!! Good Job!!
